The Commissioner of Insurance and Chief Executive Officer of the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA), Mr. Godfrey Kiptum, was a Guest Speaker at the ongoing 10th International Insurance Conference hosted in Ljubljana, in Slovenia by the Slovenian Insurance Supervision Agency under the theme “Playing Smart in a Risky World.”

The event has brought together global insurance regulators, policymakers, and industry experts to deliberate on strategies for strengthening resilience, fostering innovation, and managing risks in a rapidly changing global environment.

Participation in this high-level conference presents a unique opportunity to benchmark Kenya’s insurance regulatory practices against international standards, while also sharing insights from the local market. By engaging with global counterparts, IRA not only enhances its visibility on the international stage but also builds strategic partnerships that can support the growth and stability of Kenya’s insurance sector.

The Commissioner spoke in a session dubbed “Winning Strategies in Insurance”, which was centred around global innovations and regional leadership with insights on the development, good practices, and benefits of microinsurance in Africa in general, and Kenya in particular.

This was an opportunity for IRA to contribute to shaping discussions on emerging risks such as climate change, digital transformation, and cross-border supervision, all of which are increasingly relevant to the market.IRA continues to affirm its commitment to positioning Kenya as a progressive insurance market, driven by sound regulation and forward-looking policies.
