Mr. Sammy Mutua Makove

Mr. Sammy M. Makove is the Chief Executive Officer and the Commissioner of Insurance. He holds an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree from JKUAT University, a Masters of Arts in Psychology from Daystar University and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Insurance Option) from the University of Nairobi. He is a Chartered Insurer with ACII qualifications. He further holds various professional qualifications in the Insurance profession which include;

• Chartered Insurance Practitioner (CIP)
• Associate of the Insurance Institute of Kenya (AIIK)
• Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of London (ACII)
• Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIarb.)
  
  

In December 2008, Mr. Makove was honoured with the award of the order of Moran of the Burning Spear (MBS) by His Excellency the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Makove held the position of Commissioner of Insurance in the Department of Insurance, Ministry of Finance. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Retirement Benefits Authority and a Trustee of the Insurance Education and Training Trust (ITET). ITET runs the College of Insurance, the premier insurance training institution in Kenya.

Mr. Makove also holds other various positions of leadership and responsibility in the community.
