COUNTY: SAMBURU COUNTY

The Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) is a Government agency established under the Insurance Act, CAP. 487 laws of Kenya, to regulate, supervise and develop the insurance industry in Kenya.
The Authority, in collaboration with county governments, rolled out a training for insurance agents at the counties under the Executive Certificate of Proficiency (ECOP) in insurance programme.
The objective of the ECOP training programme is, among others, to:
• Create a positive image of insurance by having well trained and skilled insurance sales persons at county levels
• Create employment at the counties by training at least 100 residents of the County to qualify as insurance sales agents.
• Enhance access of insurance services within the County in realization of the Vision 2030.
Upon completion of the two week training, successful trainees are awarded an Executive Certificate of Proficiency (ECOP) in Insurance and a licence by IRA to sell insurance in Kenya.
The Authority in collaboration with the County Government of Samburu will conduct the ECOP training in the county from 5th – 17th December, 2016. This will be the 29th ECOP training conducted by IRA.
The target group for the training includes, but not limited to youth, women, persons with disabilities, fresh school leavers, community/opinion leaders, business persons, farmers and professionals, leaders of local organizations andreligious leaders.
Interested persons, who should be residents of Samburu County, with a minimum qualification of KCSE may collect the Course Application Form from Ward Administrators’ Offices Samburu County( Samburu Central, Samburu North and Samburu East). The form may also be downloaded from the IRA website www.ira.go.ke and College of Insurance website www.coi.ac.ke.
Duly completed forms should be returned to the above offices on or before 10th October 2016.
